The trip assaulted my senses, plain and simple. Between Kevin Barnes’s vocals, the sheer power of the rest of the band, a combination of on-the fly psychedelic visuals applied to live footage and David Barnes’s wonderfully weird animations, wayyyy too much second-hand pot smoke, and a too-hot cup […]
…Nick gave us a new blog post. There was much celebration and feasting. (Really, it was a pretty kick ass time.)
Similarly, Hoover’s was all kinds of enjoyable. It may have taken Lindsie and I forever to actually get there (her moreso than myself), but it was well worth the journey. Dusty […]
So I got bored while I was at Lindsie’s for my grad school tours (she’s not a bad hostess…she was just at work while I was in her apartment) and decided to make Sonya a mix CD. I figured it was appropriate because we spend so much of our time asking when the world […]
Ice-age heat wave, can’t complain.
If the world’s at large, why should I remain?
Walked away to another plan.
Gonna find another place, maybe one I can stand.
I move on to another day,
to a whole new town with a whole new way.
Went to the porch to have a thought.
Got to the door and again, I couldn’t stop.
You don’t […]
My hard drive is seriously making me insane. All I’m trying to do is get everything into one nice, tidy image before I get my new drive and toss this corrupted, corroded, crap-tastic pile of platters into the trash. However, it’s not going into the night without a struggle. Tonight’s battleground: […]
…and it’s actually really good. I definitely agree with most reviewers that it’s not my favourite track on the album (thanks for reminding me it’s available, Dusty!) but the video is a lot of fun. Plus, it’s a happy song and sometimes you need that after a day of making charts of unique […]
Update: Added some new albums and updated announced release dates (denoted by a plus sign)
I was going to write a post listing upcoming albums that I’m excited for, but during my research I found that stereogum is already all over it. However, they failed to mention specific release dates for any of the albums, so […]
I calculated tonight that my music library (4,595 songs at press) is composed of .9% Duran Duran (44 songs.) I don’t know statistics, but I feel certain that three tracks in one hour while on shuffle is kinda significant.
I may be lonely but I have excellent 80s music to keep me company.
Geek 4EVA, bitches!
So, you are listening to Muse, correct? How could you not be…Black Holes and Revelations is probably one of the most epic pop albums ever. If you - for whatever unfathomable reason - aren’t hooked, you definitely need to see this video of their performance of “Starlight” from the MTV Europe Music Awards:
Clickity-click […]
The Flower Book - Emilie Simon: Believe it or not, MTV can actually play good videos…well, MTV Hits, that is. I saw the video for “Flowers” and, being the big stop motion sucker that I am, fell immediately in love. The album alternates between warped lullabies and electronic glitter, all while keeping […]
