Frustration is beginning to seep in around the edges. I’m not frustrated by the search for fresh employment (I continue to toil at this), but instead I find myself increasingly frustrated by everything else. Gas prices are absurd. The fact that so many people are content to put another Republican into office, damning us to at least four more years of a shitty economy and billions of wasted dollars thousands—not to mention all of the wasted lives—spent in Iraq, boggles my mind. I haven’t even been able to get my butt out of bed early enough to shave for at least 5 days. The longer I stay in this area, the more appealing the idea of “settling” and spending the rest of my life here becomes. This scares the shit out of me. I liken it to lying down and dying. I refuse.
On a lighter note, Battlestar Galactica Season 3 (fatty fat Apollo!) is wonderful and so is Forgetting Sarah Marshall. I am very relieved to see that Baby Mama is even apparently very good, allowing me to continue to love Tina Fey without feeling ashamed.

I know exactly the feeling you are having! Do not give in…you can get out and it’s definitely worth the struggle and the frustration.
You fail to mention that Congress is currently controlled by the Democrats, who promised many of the same dreams that Obama is promoting to get elected.
Obama = taxes out the wazoo
The two party system, while necessary for checks-and-balances purposes, also impedes a lot with its bickering and power struggles. We are basically effed regardless, I just think it would be nice to get effed by a black man for a change.
Also, I think at this point I would prefer to pay slightly higher taxes if it meant having a healthy economy again.
What? The economy is driven by buyers and sellers, not the government.
With less income due to taxes, buyers will spend less. With profits being eaten up by taxes, sellers are unable to offer lower prices, expand their businesses or hire additional staff.
If anything, the government should give discounts to those who invest in struggling markets, such as alternative fuels. From these investments, new markets get a monetary boost, new jobs will be created, healthy competition is established, prices decrease, investors get their money back and then some, and consumer confidence is restored. The economy is saved!
Tada. I should be President.
Ironically, I just found this:

I have one more snarky thing to say before I am done with this discussion:
It’s amazing how well this has worked for the past 8 years, right? I mean, with all of the Bush tax cuts, it’s amazing that our economy is not even more ridiculously prosperous than it is right now.
There is so much more that has to happen behind the scenes (it’s not like it’s a 1:1 taxes:health of economy thing) that I actually feel dumb for getting into this at all, because I am completely unqualified.
Call me crazy, but I don’t think the Bush tax cuts were drastic enough. The more disposable money you can put in the hand of the buyers, the more they can pump into the economy; likewise with the sellers.
Since the government doesn’t have to worry about making a profit, anything it does is going to be inefficient. So why should we hand over more of our money to the government to misappropriate?
And back to the gas topic. The entire world is being forced to pay the rising gas prices. Unless your country is a heavy oil producer, mass transit is sounding better everyday. In fact, I am starting to ride a bus to work next week. Woo woo!
YOU ARE CRAZY, HOOVER
